Promoting Equity & Inclusion in Education

  • Building spaces in schools for dialogue and action on exclusion, equity, inclusion and human rights by engaging teachers/students through inclusion actions and promoting children’s agency and participation in school processes and use of grievance redress mechanisms in cases of exclusion and discrimination.
  • Reviewing curriculum and developing materials to better link content and pedagogy with knowledge and learning processes of socially excluded children and advocating for curriculum revisions.
  • Empowering school management committee members from excluded communities and education volunteers to develop equity and inclusion into their respective works.
  • Empowering community members to engage with the schools and monitor the education of their children.
  • Generating action-oriented research on the educational status of different groups of excluded children and social equity audits in education from a rights perspective.
  • Engaging in advocacy with education officials, based on research and social equity audit findings, for more equitable and inclusive policies, programmes and budgets.
  • Advocacy for Social Justice Minister and Deputy Social Justice Minister in school-level Bal Sansads.
  • Facilitating formation of Ambedkar Student Forums (ASFs) at Panchayat and block levels
  • Monitoring the implementation of RtE act to promote effective integration of children from disadvantaged and economically weaker sections of the society in private unaided schools.
  • Implementing inclusive and experiential learning process through Khel Se Mel.
  • Networking with various education forums and organizations to foreground equity and inclusion issues.
