Navodya Ab Dur Nahi

Navodaya Ab Door Nahi

(A new dawn is not far anymore – Navodaya is also special schools by the government and the word also means ‘new dawn’) –

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are a system of alternate schools for gifted students in India. They are run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, New Delhi, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India. JNVs are fully residential and co-educational schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, with classes from VI to XII standard. JNVs are specifically tasked with finding talented children in rural areas of India and providing them with an education equivalent to the best residential school system, without regard to their family’s socio-economic condition.[1]

Navodaya Ab Door Nahi campaign was designed to promote access and inclusion of marginalized children across all districts of Bihar with the support of community led Civil society network and youth led organization ( BASF). Under the campaign Youth and CSO’s are informed about the important dates for filling the forms and examination. Youths engage themselves in ensuring that children have access to forms and facilitate them in the process of filling application forms. Thereafter, BASF members hold coaching classes in the community space and facilitate them for exam preparedness. The campaign has helped not only spread awareness about the special schools among excluded communities but also in building the perspective of inclusion among the duty bearers in education system to provide opportunity to the marginalized children. First year of the campaign surfaced several incidences of discrimination from accessibility of forms to filling and submission of the same.
