Build Learning and Leadership Modules

Social & Gender Inclusion Modules

A 40-hour experiential learning module curated in-house that offers engaging experiences tailored to deepen social, economic, and political awareness. It includes content to promote social equity, constitution and legal framework, education, and gender rights among others. Through interactive sessions and inclusive activities, participants engage in a dynamic environment that fosters teamwork and understanding. The blended learning approach combines in-person meetings with online sessions, using visual materials and group activities to make complex topics accessible. By emphasizing gender and social inclusion, the content simplifies complex and intersectional dimensions for first-generation learners, empowering students with the knowledge and skills to navigate challenges in their education and career while fostering a sense of agency and confidence to advocate for their rights and communities.

Math Module

CSEI worked with Jodogyan and Avishkar Foundations and developed in-house modules with 70 lesson plans covering Primary, Middle, and Secondary math modules. An experiential methodology was used to create an innovative math education program using 5 dimensions of Ganit Charcha—Suno, Dekho, Karo, and Abhyas. This approach removed the fear of math learning, making it interactive, engaging, and relevant.

Twelve youths from the local communities were trained, and they imparted primary and middle math modules to 1,500 school-going children in classes 6, 7, and 8 across 12 schools in Bihar and UP. A mindset shift was observed in the fellows from the training with deepened conceptual understanding, making learning engaging and interactive, enhancing collaboration and communication among children in the teaching-learning process. Teachers testify to the impact of the intervention, which also showed a marked increase in the attendance rates in all schools.

English & Life Skills Module

CSEI worked with knowledge partner i4Connect Foundation and created the English & Life Skills curriculum with 31 modules, facilitator manuals, and respective worksheets covering 120 hours of learning. It includes basic language and grammar and class 10/12 discourses, which were piloted, revised, and fine-tuned.

Over two cycles of 18 months, 60 Girl Champions from Dalit, Tribal, Minority, and urban poor communities were trained in the 31 modules, who further reached out to 700 girls in their communities with the same content. A hybrid method of quarterly in-person workshops followed by weekly online training was systematically implemented. The pedagogy and methodology have been piloted, revised, and fine-tuned.

An end-line assessment reported significant improved skills in reading, writing, grammar, and language comprehension. Life skills and digital literacy improved their communication skills, enhanced self-confidence, critical thinking, and social and gender affirmation. The family and community were engaged through meetings and community events.

Science Modules

We partnered with Tan90 and set up community science labs and with Eklavya Foundation to promote scientific temper and science concepts among secondary school children. Each module integrates contextual information, group activities, individual learning, and assessment tools.

The ‘Science-in-the-Box’ kit developed by Eklavya is used to organise hands-on science experiments and practical learning for children in the community. Science is taken to the community through community science melas, creating a learning environment in the community and making knowledge contextual, practical, and life-centered.

Digital Skills Module

This module is designed to equip Girl Champions and PLC members with essential computer skills. Training includes:

  • Basics of operating a computer

  • Navigating the internet using Google

  • Managing social media

  • Sending and organizing emails

  • Working with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Creating PowerPoint presentations and PDFs

  • Effectively using YouTube as a resource for knowledge and learning

The program collaborated with the Young Leaders for Active Citizenship program to build essential social media skills, in particular, understanding safety dimensions while using social media. The program used a mix of videos, PDFs, and case studies to orient the champions on digital well-being, helping them to maintain a balanced use of digital devices, recognize unsafe calls, and ensure online security, privacy protection, and safe online practices. The process also helped them search and use credible sources of information and become a responsible internet user.

This comprehensive approach ensures that champions develop the knowledge and awareness needed to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
